How to choose materials and production for large-format printing?
Large-format printing is intended for projects where the size of the artwork plays an important role in communication. It produces visuals for retail locations, business premises, exhibitions, events, shop windows and outdoor surfaces.
Printing on rigid boards or flexible materials? With UV printing the ink cures under UV light during printing, allowing suitable rigid boards to be printed directly. This method is useful for advertising signs, wayfinding, exhibition panels and POS elements. Find out more about materials and production options on our page about rigid board printing. Stickers, self-adhesive films, banners and flags have different material and finishing requirements, so we determine the production method for each project individually.
Material for indoor or outdoor use is selected according to the installation location, intended duration of use and fixing method. For indoor displays, we also consider the weight and appearance of the product. For outdoor use, we assess exposure to moisture, sunlight and wind. A material for a short promotion is not necessarily suitable for permanent signage. The application surface matters for self-adhesive films, fixing methods for banners, and structural support and installation for boards. Durability depends on the complete product and the conditions of use.
For every project, we agree on dimensions, material, printing method and any finishing, then find a solution suited to the location and purpose.
Artwork preparation, finishing and installation require agreement on the finished size, file scale, resolution appropriate to the viewing distance and bleed. For custom products, we also check cutting requirements. Depending on the product, printing can be complemented by surface protection, cutting or preparation for installation; on-site installation is arranged according to the project.
